Lincoln Electric Growth Spurt Continues with Acquisition of Rimrock Holdings

(Lincoln Electric), continues to expand its automation capabilities and reach with the acquisition of Rimrock Holdings Corp. (Rimrock), a privately held manufacturer and integrator of industrial automation products and robotic systems, headquartered in Columbus, OH. Terms of the deal, Lincoln Electric’s third major acquisition since last October,* were not disclosed.

Rimrock, with annual sales of of approximately $40 million, has two divisions and manufacturing sites: Wolf Robotics LLC (formerly ABB Welding) and Rimrock Corp.

  • Wolf Robotics (Fort Collins, CO) integrates robotic welding and cutting systems predominately for heavy fabrication (construction, mining, agriculture), and transportation OEMs and suppliers.
  • Rimrock Corp. (Columbus, OH) designs and manufactures automated spray systems and turnkey robotic systems for the die casting, foundry, and forging markets.

*In October 2014, Lincoln Electric Holdings acquired Easom Automation Systems, Inc., of Madison Heights, MI, an integrator and manufacturer of automation and positioning solutions, serving heavy fabrication, aerospace, and automotive OEMs and suppliers.

A month later (November 2014), Lincoln Electric Co. acquired the live arc training-system manufacturer RealWeld Systems, Inc., along with associated intellectual property from the engineering and manufacturing technology organization EWI. RealWeld Systems and EWI are both headquartered in Columbus, OH.
