Schneider Electric Software Drives Operational and Energy-Efficiency Improvements in Pima County, AZ, Wastewater Reclamation Efforts

Lake Forest, CA-based Schneider Electric Software highlighted a number of real-world success stories at its recent Wonderware conference in Dallas. Among these end-user case studies was the notable experience of Pima County, AZ, which harnessed Wonderware HMI SCADA and IntelaTrac mobile workforce and decision-support system at its critical Tres Rios wastewater reclamation facility.

According to those involved in the project, these Schneider Electric Software solutions increased operational efficiency at the Tres Rios site by 50% and reduced energy costs by 10% while doubling the facility’s capacity. Moreover, these improvements were achieved without cutting headcount.

More than a million Arizonans depend on the Tres Rios operation, which treats 60 million gallons of wastewater a day through 3,700 miles of pipes covering 700 square miles across Tucson, Marana, and several other Pima County communities. The Wonderware solution helps manage 97% of the facility’s total sewage treatment capacity.
