BinMaster Releases Flow Detect 2000 for Solids Flow/No-flow Sensing

EP Editorial Staff | July 10, 2014

Flow_Detect_2000515444787BinMaster has introduced its Flow Detect 2000, a non-intrusive instrument for the detection of solids flow / no-flow for a variety of industry material handling needs. It detects blockage, empty conveyors, no-flow to and from a process, and loose slide gates. The device is microwave-based, able to “see through” plastic pipe, glass process seals or wooden chute walls to detect the material inside. It can be used in gravity chutes, feeders, pipelines, conveyor belts or bucket elevators.

The Flow Detect 2000 has a NEMA 4X enclosure and installs through a 1-/14′ NPT opening. Non-intrusive, it does not contact the flow stream, eliminating wear. It works for solids, granules, pellets, meals and powdered materials and is suitable for such industries as feed, grain, milling, food, cement, mining, power and plastics. An important use is to prevent cross contamination of ingredients by ensuring flow has stopped before a new material is introduced into the flow stream. The Flow Detect 2000 uses analog relay output to communicate flow or no-flow to PLCs and controllers, and both normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) contacts are available. LED indicators show power, flow/no-flow and fault conditions. Controls for adjusting sensitivity and output delays are accessible by removing the device’s top.
