Schneider Electric Taps AVEVA Software Solution to Power Smart Factory Initiative

Jane Alexander | October 12, 2018

Among several notable announcements coming out of this year’s AVEVA World Summit in Palm Springs, CA was one regarding selection of the company’s software solution to power the Schneider Electric Smart Factory initiative.

The Smart Factory initiative is part of Schneider Electric’s digital-transformation journey. According to the company, its embrace of digital transformation is aimed at helping manufacturers overcome the economic, resource, and operational challenges they face in optimizing value creation across asset and operations lifecycles.

The AVEVA software solution is said to enable real-time visibility of process and production states, and ensure consistent standards are adhered to across multiple sites. The solution applies lean manufacturing principles, while offering sufficient flexibility for process improvement and operational agility.

Schneider Electric has further streamlined and automated the management of maintenance work planning, preventive maintenance, and scheduling for greater efficiency. End users have better access to process and performance data, which is now being collected, stored, and visualized through a secure, managed cloud solution.

AVEVA is now live at 40 manufacturing sites, with 60 more sites expected to be live by the end of 2018. Select results from these implementations include reduction of unplanned downtime by 10%, improved operational visibility and control, and increased workforce productivity.
